On the verge of graduating from lower-middle-income status, Cambodia has a far-sighted focus to transform itself to be an upper-middle income country by 2030 and reach the high-income status by 2050. Therefore, the Royal Government of Cambodia has adopted a strategic vision of economic diversification, strengthening competitiveness, and promoting productivity, specified in the Cambodia Industrial Development Policy 2015 – 2025. The bedrock of this aspiration strongly relies on youth with the right knowledge and relevant skills responsive to the need of socio-economic development and labor market. This patently indicates the indispensable interconnection between youth dynamics and robust education system in which knowledge plays both present and future roles as the most critical assets.
Given this vital role of education, discuss whether the Cambodia’s education development has been preparing youth’s potential to be ready for development agenda by 2030.
