Still, potential threats posed by AI has sparked off an intense debate among scientists and experts. In his book titled \u201cBrief Answers to the Big Questions\u201d, Stephen Hawking, the world-renowned theoretical physicist, warned that, \u201c\u2026the advent of super-intelligent AI would be either the best or the worst thing ever to happen to humanity. The real risk with AI isn\u2019t malice but competence. A super-intelligent AI will be extremely good at accomplishing its goals, and if those goals aren\u2019t aligned with ours, we\u2019re in trouble.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To see whether such optimism and pessimism about AI, to some extent, are true, we need to understand what AI really is. What is AI? How much do we know about AI?
