New Entry Requirement into Cambodia: Update on Omicron

As of January 21, the Royal Government of Cambodia has made an adjustment on the entry requirement to Cambodia as the effort to reduce the chain of transmission of Omicron variants into the community. 

The Ministry of Health of Cambodia has made an announcement on the entry and treatment guideline as the following:

Requirement

  • Foreign travelers and tourists are subjected to conduct COVID-19 Rapid Test at the port of entry and must wait 15-20mns for the result.
  • If the result is negative, all travelers and tourists will be exempted from quarantine obligation and travel freely across Cambodia. For the unvaccinated travelers and tourists will be subjected to mandatory 14 days quarantine requirement.
  • If the result is positive, foreign travelers and tourists will go through PCR Test and the Genomic Sequencing to distinguish between imported and locally transmitted infections and shall be put in isolation by complying to the following measures:
  1. Foreigners:
    Receive the treatment from the hotels or the embassy residence or the personal residence of choice, without being subjected to receive the treatment from the  MoH’s designated hospital.
  2. Cambodians:
    Allow home-treatment, including the Alpha, Delta and Omicron cases by complying to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) for the at-Home Management, Care and Treatment of COVID-19 Patients. In the case that the risk is alarming, patients are allowed to choose to receive treatment from the MoH’s designated hospital, including both private hospitals recognized by the MoH and state-owned hospitals.
