ABOUT Commentary
The COVID-19 pandemic has undeniably deteriorated public health and caused economic disruptions. Millions of workers around the globe have been severely affected by this, particularly migrant workers who have lost and are on the verges of losing their jobs. As a drastic burden is postulated and the decision to migrate depends on the costs and benefits, a standard theoretical model is perhaps hard to justify and replicate during this unprecedented time, as uncertainty significantly played a role. Cambodian migrant workers, like elsewhere around the world, are facing an inevitable impact from the pandemic, pushing them to the edge of the cliff: whether they should return home or stay with an empty stomach.
